104 litter fines have been issued by Westmeath County Council since 2022 according to figures released to Topic. 22 fines have been issued in the county since January 2024 with 14 in the Mullingar–Kinnegad Municipal District (MKMD) and 8 in the Athlone – Moate Municipal District (AMMD).
38 fines were issued in MKMD in 2023 with 14 in AMMD for a total of 52. 11 fines were issued in MKMD in 2022 with 19 in AMMD for a total of 30. Nobody has been prosecuted for dumping in this time period.
