Multiple jobs could be created in Westmeath as Amazon Web Services (AWS) eyes up a move to Bord na Móna’s Eco Energy Park in Derrinlough it was announced on Tuesday, 30 April. AWS has signed a power purchase agreement with Bord na Móna for electricity from Derrinlough Wind Farm.
The development is at a very early stage and will be subject to planning permission. Derrinlough was previously a site for industrial peat extraction which created multiple jobs in the locality. This was lost after its cessation but the new agreement between AWS and Bord na Móna could be a huge source of employment in the region.
