We had a bit of work done on the house in recent times and one of those fine tradesmen happened to be a Lough Lene Gaels man. A gent too. He, thankfully, wasn’t as harsh on me for my misguided, shall we say, feelings towards the Collinstown men last season. The whole relegation versus a puck away in injury time from being champions. Something we did chat about was the potential to keep it going. Not being that ‘flash in the pan’ stereotype. As far as seasons go, 2024 has been very good. Comparing football and hurling is like the old apples and oranges but, other than a sparse few, the sweet oranges are more enjoyable than the slowly-rotting apples. That’s a conversation for another day. The Gaels and Clonkill do battle, like they did only days ago, but this time for a spot in the decider. Before jumping into anything else, could we ask that the game be as good as the first one! High-scoring, dramatics at both the beginning and end, good skills, and both sides giving their all. Not too much to ask?
