They say there are only three certainties in life. Death. Taxes. And Mayo bottling the men’s All-Ireland senior football championship! With so many unpredictable moments, what chances of getting football matches at club level right if a county who last won the All-Ireland men’s senior football in 1951 will have a Mayo woman in space before winning it again!

It is hard to believe it’s almost a year since we all sat down to contemplate the potential outcomes of Westmeath club championship football. I got some spot on. Some close. A few were very wide of the mark – not my fault, of course. It was all the players fault!
