By Ciaran Brennan. Students from Moate Community School were named ‘Designer of the Year’ at the Junk Kouture world final at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco on Thursday, 22 February. “We are absolutely thrilled. Finally!” school principal Tom Lowry told Topic. The team from Moate won with their design, #TagMe. It comprised fifth year students Méabh O’Shea, Evie Nugent and Eva Donlon, who modelled the design.
They were supervised by Pamela Keogh, art teacher at Moate Community School. #TagMe was inspired by Italian designer Missoni and made from over 2,500 plastic colour testers from Delta Q, a plastics manufacturer in Athlone. It is the crowning glory for the school which has a strong Junk Kouture tradition.
