Last Wednesday, 22 May the National Famine Way Commemorative Walk passed through the 26th Lock of the Royal Canal, Coolnahay on its passage from Strokestown Park estate in Roscommon, to the Epic Museum in Dublin Docklands and beyond.
Led by Irish Ambassador to Canada, Eamonn McKee, Canadian Ambassador to Ireland, Nancy Smyth and representatives of the Liverpool Irish Famine Trail, the commemorative walk had already passed through Roscommon and Longford following the trail of 1490 tenants forcibly migrated in 1847.
