Mullingar musician and frontman of The Blizzards, Niall ‘Bressie’ Breslin has announced that he will present a classical music daily radio programme on BBC.
Breslin will host ‘Classical Wind Down’ every day from 6pm to 9pm as part of BBC Radio 3 Unwind, where he promised to play to listeners “the most calming and beautiful music ever composed.”
BBC Radio 3 Unwind is a new 24/7 stream showcasing a broad and eclectic range of calming classical music, which launched on BBC Sounds on Monday, 4 November. BBC said the new schedule was “fronted by a stellar lineup of presenters” and would accompany “listeners’ daily routines, aiming to enhance wellbeing and help them escape the pressures of daily life.”
It said that Bressie’s show would help “listeners recharge after a busy day” and “presents a diverse range of classical music, shaped by Niall’s work in sociology and mindfulness.”
The new gig for Bressie means he can add the role of radio presenter to his wide range of work in his CV, such as being a mental health advocate, public speaker, author, podcaster, musician and former sportsman.
On social media, he wrote: “I grew up listening to classical music. My mother gave violin and piano lessons to her student’s every evening in our house. I would sit behind our Beckstein piano most days trying to work out how to play Clair De Lune (still not quite there).”
“To get to combine that with my other passion in Mindfulness is really special. So chuffed to announce I am the new presenter on Classical Wind Down on BBC Radio 3 Unwind each evening.”
“Each evening I aim to bring you some of the most calming and beautiful music ever composed to help settle the chaotic mind after a rinsing day.”
