Southern Gaels edge past Turin to win Championship opener

By John Dingle
Southern Gaels got their Intermediate Championship campaign off to a winning start when they edged out Turin in Ballymore GAA grounds on Saturday evening last. There was little between the teams over the hour with both enjoying spells of dominance in an entertaining opening to the 2024 Championship. Southern Gaels opened the scoring inside the first minute with a point from Sean Dowd and a converted free from Chulainn Dowd then doubled the lead. Turin were soon on level terms as a point from play and then a free from Ray Aughey restored parity.
