St. Finian’s outmuscled by well organised Oaklands

The senior footballers from St. Finian’s College, Mullingar, lost out by seven points in this North Leinster semi-final clash with Oaklands Community College in Edenderry GAA grounds on Thursday last, January 19.

The Westmeath school came up against a ferocious animal in the shape of the Oaklands defence. The Edenderry team were very well organised and midway through the first half, they got to grips with Finians’ talisman Cormac Coyne, who had bagged three early scores. Finian’s then went 40 minutes without a score as Oaklands slowly crept out of sight, recycling possession well and tagging on scores efficiently.
