By Diarmuid Sherry. Westmeath’s branch of the Irish Farmers Association (IFA) staged a protest on Monday, 26 February against bureaucracy, income pressure and regulations. A convoy of tractors was parked outside Westmeath County Council, timed to coincide with a council meeting due to happen at the same time. IFA representatives at the protest said they are subject to excessive bureaucracy and are asking for a more reliable system to receive scheme payments.
