IT was a proud day for the Lake County on Wednesday, 15 February when the Men Shed’s Groups from Rochfortbridge and Kilbeggan were among the twenty-one finalists from all over Ireland to contest the all-Ireland final competition run by Fisherman’s Friend Ireland for the pieces of art that they created for the ‘Shed Series 2017’ event.
The event took place at the National Maritime Museum in Dún Laoghaire. In what was only the second year of the competition, the finalists were bidding to succeed the inaugural winners from the Cooley Peninsula, near Dundalk in Co. Louth.
Although this year’s prize went to the KC Team, from Co. Kerry it was nevertheless a great achievement for Westmeath to have two finalists, based less than fifteen miles from each other, in Dun Laoghaire last Wednesday.
