Problems with the lighting network in Westmeath were discussed during the February meeting of Westmeath County Council on Monday, 24 February.
The Council informed local representatives that the Council hopes to have a lighting network consisting entirely of LEDs by 2030. At present, 73% of the lights in the county are LED. Issues facing the Council regarding broken lights were also discussed and it was revealed that the average cost of repairing direct-fed lights amounted to €5,000. Skyline, the Council’s lighting contractor, can’t undertake these works without engaging with the ESB or “doing significant underground civil works”.
