At the final whistle it was a case of what might have been, or what could have been for Westmeath, but in the end they made the long journey home, pointless after another huge effort by all the players.
Coming into this game Westmeath knew it was going to be a difficult task, travelling down to face John Cleary’s Cork who had one win and one defeat under their belts.
