In what has been described as an act of “absolute thuggery”, the windows of three premises in the tightly knit village of Rathwire were smashed in the early hours of Tuesday, 25 February.
Local residents who heard the smashing of glass, have told Topic they were shocked and nervous to intervene in scene. Speaking to two victims of the crime, they said that glass was scattered all over their premises. “It was obvious that the criminals target was money as the tills were unsuccessfully opened, however there was no money left in any of the tills overnight.”
