There are big financial challenges ahead for Westmeath GAA, confirmed County Treasurer Aidan Walsh and Patrick Doherty, Operations Manager of Westmeath GAA at last week’s County Convention which was held in the Mullingar Park Hotel on Thursday evening last, 12 December.
County Treasurer Aidan Walsh began by saying, “We had a deficit for the year gone by of approximately €70,000. It is something we will have to keep tabs on as best we can. We have big challenges for the year ahead. We have the large fundraiser for the ‘House in Spain draw’ and this has to receive a lot of priority for the coming year. It has to be successful if we are to have our home in the near future. We took the first steps this year with the purchase of the land and we need to buy into our fundraising events over the coming year.”
