Cllr Andrew Duncan blasted a book used in the Social Personal and Health Education (SPHE) curriculum during the September meeting of Westmeath County Council on Monday, 23 September.
The book, titled Health and Wellbeing has been heavily criticised in recent weeks for a section called ‘All Different, All Equal’. It depicts two contrasting families: One is a stereotypical Irish family who wear Aran jumpers, have ginger hair and are pictured outside a cottage. Their diet consists of bacon, cabbage and potatoes and their pastimes include the GAA and attending the Fleadh Cheoil.
