Books are not just for World Book Day, says Literary Festival PRO

On Thursday, 6 March, World Book Day was celebrated across the globe. A chance to discuss the love of reading, get lost in a good book and dress up as favourite characters, but the organisers of Mullingar’s first ever Literary Festival believe that we can do more and every day should be book day.

“I feel as we stand on the threshold of World Book Day, that reading should not be just celebrated on one day of the year,” said Don Mortell, Public Relations Officer for the Inaugural Mullingar Literary Festival (MLF) which takes place between Friday, 4 July and Sunday, 6 July this year. “The joy of a good book should be experienced as soon as you’re able to read and that should become a life-long love of books. We’re hoping that the Mullingar Literary Festival will support that thinking.”
