Newly released statistics revealed a 16.9% increase in burglaries in Westmeath in the first nine months of 2023 compared to the same timeframe in 2024.
Statistics released from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) on Monday, 3 March, showed there were 187 burglary and related offences from January until September 2024, compared to 160 offences in the same time period the year before. That means that there was a recorded burglary in the county in the first nine months of 2024 every day and a half.
