The number of uninsured drivers caught within the Meath/Westmeath Garda Division from 2023 to 2024 rose by 84%, new data has shown.
According to data, there were 264 incidents where a vehicle was detained under Section 41 of the Roads Traffic Act 1994 from a driver without an approved policy of insurance in Q2 of 2024, compared to only 143 incidents in Q2 of 2023.
