Champs could bow out as Gaels produce a storming finish

Raharney’s grip on the Westmeath senior hurling championship is hanging by a thread.. in fact it is not a thread Raharney are even in control of. Following last Sunday’s sensational finish to a gripping match in TEG Cusack Park where Lough Lene Gaels scored 2-1 in injury time to shock the Deelsiders, Raharney will have to beat Castlepollard in the next round and then hope that St Oliver Plunkett’s cause a major shock of dynamic proportions by beating Castletown, otherwise Raharney’s grip on the Westmeath senior hurling title is over, even before the knockout stages.

For the second time in two weeks the Westmeath senior hurling championship produced a classic match, and for the second time in a row Raharney were on the losing end.
