A special machine may be used to remove chewing gum in the worst affected areas of Mullingar, the Chamber was told during the December meeting of the Mullingar–Kinnegad Municipal District on Monday, 9 December, 2024.
The response came after Cllr Bill Collentine asked the District to clean chewing gum from paths in Mullingar. In a written reply to Cllr Collentine, the District pointed out that footpaths in Mullingar are power washed on an annual basis. Chewing gum removal is part of this cleaning project.
