Christmas begins in Mullingar this Friday!

Santa Claus will be in Mullingar on Friday, 22 November, to offer Christmas greetings to everyone attending the official switching on of Mullingar’s Christmas Lights.

The Mullingar Christmas Lights Committee in conjunction with Mullingar Chamber of Commerce have scheduled the official switch-on of the Christmas lights between 5pm and 6pm at the Market Square.

Santa Claus accepted the invitation from Mullingar Arts Centre, to take time off his seasonal busy schedule to perform the official light switch-on.

It is hoped that the balcony at Canton Casey’s Pub can be used for this special moment. The Arts Centre have also invited a few additional festive characters to add to the atmosphere to make the event even more magical.

Mullingar will also have two shiny new Christmas trees on display this year, which were generously sponsored by The National Science Park. The new trees will be a part of this year’s decorations, and are expected to arrive between 26 and 28 November. One tree will be positioned in Market Square and the other will be located at Dominick Square, across from the Bank of Ireland.

The Mullingar Chamber of Commerce has also collaborated with Westmeath County Council for free parking in council-owned car parks for the switching on of the lights.
