Members of Westmeath County Council criticised Conor McGregor’s appearance in the White House on St Patrick’s Day and condemned his potential bid to become President of Ireland, during the March meeting of the Council on Monday, 31 March.
Cllr Vinny McCoramck submitted a motion to the Council on the matter. He requested the Council write to the U.S. Ambassador to Ireland to outline the Chamber’s “frustration and disappointment” with McGregor’s appearance in the Oval Office. This gave the 36-year-old an opportunity to “address the world media, purporting to be a spokesperson of the Irish people,” he said.
