Coláiste Mhuire, Mullingar ran riot in the opening round of the Leinster ‘B’ Post-Primary Schools Senior Hurling Championship with a barely-believable 43-point demolition of Dublin side, Malahide CS, in what will surely prove to be the easiest outing the school will have this season or indeed, possibly any other. All six of the starting Coláiste Mhuire forwards had registered at least one score before the twentieth minute as the game turned into something of a training session for the victors. Malahide CS finished the game with 13 players following two straight red-cards.
A crisp morning last Monday week, 11 November, was followed by some equally crisp hurling from the home unit. Micheál Lawler’s team making light work of an ill-disciplined and lacklustre Dublin school who could only boast perhaps two players who stood up to the task. Eight of the starting Mullingar outfit started for Westmeath Schools against Dublin North in a fine victory the previous week and continued where they left off with some fast-paced hurling, relentless in their shooting and first to almost every ball.
