Local representatives criticised the logjam of requests for works in homes owned by Westmeath County Council during the February meeting of the Municipal District of Mullingar and Kinnegad on Monday, 10 February.
Members pointed out that it is external contractors appointed by the Council that are at fault for the delay. Cllr Ken Glynn noted that staff employed directly by the Council carry out works in a timely manner. He said: “If it’s our own people, it’s fine. But if it’s a contractor it could be a waiting period of God knows how long.”
