Construction works are set to take place at Belvedere House and Gardens as discussed at the February meeting of Westmeath County Council on Monday, 24 February.
Barry Kehoe, Chief Executive of Westmeath County Council, said the first floor in two end rooms in Belvedere need to be strengthened. He pointed out that this is to protect their structural integrity as well as the stucco ceilings in the main ground floor rooms. Mr Kehoe said the work must be delivered in line with conservation best practice. The Chief Executive pointed out that the works will impact some of the historic walls but added that the benefit of the project “significantly outweighs” the negative side effects of the works.
