The spectacular starling murmurations on Lough Ennell a few miles south of Mullingar, have increasingly drawn remarkably large numbers of sightseers to the lake in winter and early spring over the past several years, and this year in particular.
Sadly, the wildlife photographer, John McCauley, whose genuine interest in wildlife at home and abroad and his Ennell photographic work led to Ennell’s recognition, has been upset and annoyed by the misguided lakeside misbehaviour of a small number of people.
