11Delvin GAA held a very successful fundraiser in aid of the Oncology Ward at Tullamore Hospital on St. Stephen’s Day on the astro-pitch. The event, which was held in memory of the late ‘Scrubber’ Murphy, attracted a huge response and resulted in the sum of €15,000 being raised on the day as well as a team winning the inaugural ‘Scrubber Murphy Memorial Cup’.
This tournament named after local Delvin man, Kevin Murphy, who sadly passed away last September after a long, brave fight with cancer. All money raised was in aid of the Oncology Ward, Tullamore Hospital. The tournament was sponsored by Wrights of Milltownpass, where Kevin worked previous to his illness.
