Following recommendations from the Electoral Commission, the Longford-Westmeath Dáil constituency has expanded to become a five-seater constituency, with a population of approximately 143,000 people.
In its report published last year, The Commission recommended that 19 Westmeath Electoral Divisions (with a population of 9,484) be transferred from Meath West to the Longford-Westmeath constituency.
