Local historian, Jason McKevitt, has praised the work of army veterans and Cllr Mick Dollard for their work in getting a 25 pounder artillery field gun on display at Columb Barracks.
The artillery field gun had been gifted to the people of Mullingar by the Irish Defence Forces and put on display for a number of years at Belvedere House, however, a decision was made to remove the gun from public viewing and into storage.
