IMC Mullingar will hold a screening of The Sparrow by Millmount, Mullingar native Michael Kinirons at 8pm on Friday, 5 July. There will be a Q&A session with Michael who wrote and directed the film after the screening. He will be joined by his wife Alice Ní Ghráinne who produced the film. The Q&A session will be hosted by Will Russell from Hot Press Magazine.
Michael is a screenwriter and director currently living in Clonmellon. He sharpened his clapperboard with short films from the mid 2000s onwards. His work as a screenwriter has earned him multiple awards including the special jury prize at the Seattle International Film Festival for Lowland Fell. Michael was also a screenwriter on 2015’s Strangerland featuring Nicole Kidman, Hugo Weaving and Joseph Fiennes. The film received the grand jury prize at the Sundance Film Festival.
