Historian welcomes monument funding, criticises Barracks ‘elephant in the room’

Local historian, Jason McKevitt, has welcomed funding of over €270,000 for local historical monument preservation as part of the Community Monument Grants, but questioned the lack of funding for Columb Barracks.

McKevitt described the lack of funding for an old military prison at Columb Barracks as the “elephant in the room.”
