John Lowe stars in Mullingar darts exhibition

Old acquaintances were renewed in Mullingar last Friday evening as professional darts player, John Lowe entertained fans at a darts exhibition in Kerrigan’s pub.
The exhibition, organised by Mullingar darts player, Jason Matthews, was a great success and raised funds for the Mullingar Youth Academy. Several local darts players took on Lowe on the night and some very enjoyable matches were witnessed by darts fans in attendance.
Former Westmeath and Irish darts player, Mick Hogg of Ballinagore was there to meet his old foe. Back in 1989, Hogg was part of the Irish team that pushed four English professional darts players all the way in the World Cup quarter-final in Toronto, Canada. Hogg defeated both Lowe and Alan Warriner in a memorable match and it went to 7-7 before the star-studded English team of Lowe, Warriner, Eric Bristow and Bob Anderson scraped through 9-7.

EXPERIENCE
Lowe and his fellow sharpshooters went on to win the title, but the Irish team had given them one major fright en route.
