Kinnegad’s Eimear O’Donnell has been in the national spotlight of late after sharing the news that a rat she adopted in Cambodia had broken a world record for detecting landmines dating back to the 20th century conflicts.
It was on a group trip across southeast Asia in 2023 when Eimear visited the APOPO visitor centre in Siem Repa, Cambodia and decided to adopt Ronin, a rat trained to detect landmines.
