Thousands of euro worth of damage was caused to the roof of Loughnavalley Church at the height of Storm Éowyn on Friday morning last, with the exceptionally heavy gusts and high winds damaging the roof area above the main altar, after a section of the slating had been blown off the building.
Local Parish Priest, Fr. David O’Hanlon, said he was receiving phone calls from Loughnavalley people early on Friday morning last telling him about the church damage, and with the help of local parishioners, by the week-end, the damaged area of the roof was covered temporarily, but it was going to cost a good bit to put it right again.
