Mass for the late Brendan Glynn, a man who lived and loved his faith.

A mass for the late Brendan Glynn, who passed away recently in Vancouver, Canada, and other deceased members of the Glynn family on Sunday, will be celebrated on August 25 at 11:30am in Rathwire Church.

Born in Grehanstown, Killucan on February 15, 1940 to parents Jane and James Glynn, Brendan was the second youngest of 15 siblings.

A skilled conversationalist, he received his education for a time in Rathware National School and for a time in Killucan Vocational School. He worked locally for a short time before emigrating to England in the late 1950s.

He worked as an assistant to the general operative in the engineering department of Parker Plant Leicester, where his brother Camillus worked for this firm as a junior clerical officer in the export spares department.

After that, he emigrated to Calgary, Canada before departing for Vancouver in British Columbia.

Brendan’s faith as a devoted Catholic was very important to him and he had a soft spot for animals and wildlife, especially dogs.

Working in The Queen Charlotte Islands as a house man, he was known to be handy in the kitchen, a skill he used to cook Christmas dinners for those less fortunate.

A kind man with a great laugh, Brendan is sadly missed by his only surviving sibling Camillus and family.
