A “crisis” in the number of Gardaí in Westmeath was highlighted during the April monthly meeting of Westmeath County Council on Monday, 28 April.
Cllr Mick Dollard sparked the discussion when he asked the Executive when the replacement for the Joint Policing Committee (JPC) would be established. Comprising elected representatives, Council officials and members of the Gardaí, JPCs address crime and policing matters in the local authority.
