Minister Burke to open Midlands Career Expo

Minister for Enterprise, Trade, and Employment Peter Burke will officially open the Midlands Career Expo on 14 September at the Mullingar Park Hotel.

Minister Burke underscored the importance of the expo, stating, “The Midlands Career Expo is an invaluable opportunity for our region. It not only connects job seekers with leading employers but also highlights the thriving industries that are vital to the Midlands’ economic growth. By bringing together talent and opportunity, this expo plays a crucial role in empowering our workforce and driving future development in the region.”

This year’s expo will feature a broad spectrum of companies, each offering a wide range of job opportunities across multiple industries. Attendees will have the chance to explore hundreds of job opportunities in sectors such as technology, healthcare, manufacturing, and renewable energy.

One of the event’s highlights is a keynote address by Shane O’Reilly from KPMG Sustainable Futures. O’Reilly will discuss emerging career opportunities within a sustainable economy, stressing the critical need to upskill the workforce to meet the challenges of achieving carbon neutrality.

Paul Mahon, CEO and Co-Founder of WATT Footprint, will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the much-anticipated Sustainability talk.

The second Keynote speaker at the forthcoming event is Richard Mooney, the Global Product Strategy Lead for SAP’s Analytics and Planning product line, who will be discussing AI and the Future of Work – “AI and the Future of Work: Unlocking New Opportunities and Enhancing Job Fulfilment”.

Richard will discuss the transformative impact AI will have on the future of work, exploring the new tools and innovative approaches that are already being implemented in current projects. He will highlight the exciting opportunities AI will create, including emerging roles and skill sets, and emphasise the importance of upskilling to stay competitive in this evolving landscape.
