A Mullingar singer based in London has released his first single and is ready to play the headline act in concerts.
Naosán Moore (28), a former Coláiste Mhuire student has spent the last few years supporting popular Irish artists in the UK and Europe, and is ready to take the jump with headlining shows planned in Ireland and England in late 2024.
The debut single for Naosán, released on Friday, 27 September, is called The Start of Something New.
“It is an Indy-pop song,” said Naosán. “I am highly inspired by Niall Horan so it has that type of influence and style. People like James Blunt and James Bay too.
“The song is about feeling excited about starting a new chapter in your life. For example, I moved to London three years ago to pursue music full-time and this song encapsulates this type of excitement.”
Since moving to London, Naosán likes to maintain his Irish heritage. Living in Kilburn, colloquially known as the 33rd Irish county, Naosán said his highlights were supporting known Irish acts.
“One of the highlight supporting shows I have done in London has been supporting Róisín O, who has played with The Coronas as well so that was really cool,” commented Naosán. “Ham Sandwich is another Irish band which I supported in a cool club.
“I went to Hamburg supporting Michelle Daly. She is an Irish artist and I originally supported her in her London shows and she invited me to support her in Hamburg so that was just great to play to a different crowd.”
Naosán continued: “I am 100% drawn to the Irish community. It is very important to me and I love coming home to my roots.”
The son of a locally known poet, Kevin Moore, Naosán said it was good to have his father’s “creative flair” to help him over the years, as he talked about how he developed his love for music.
He said: “I started piano lessons when I was 10 but then song-writing when I was 16. I literally wrote a song about a girl I fancied from home and played it in the school talent show and the reaction I got from that encouraged me to keep writing songs from there.”
Naosán Moore will headline in Ireland at Crowbar Terrace, Button Factory, Dublin on Thursday, 7 November with tickets available on Eventbrite on Thursday, 3 October at 10am.
