Newly-elected Fine Gael TD, Micheál Carrigy has said he expected his party colleague, Mullingar’s Peter Burke to be re appointed to a senior Cabinet Ministerial role in the next Government.
The Longford-based Mr Carrigy was voted in as a TD in his second attempt after narrowly failing in the 2020 General Election. He was the last man standing in the 2024 General Election, securing the seat in the fifteenth and final count with 9,208 votes and 7,090 first preference votes. He was comfortably ahead of incumbent Longford TD, Fianna Fáil’s Joe Flaherty at all stages of the count.
