Political leaders and teacher unions have railed against Mullingar businessman Michael O’Leary, following his off-the-cuff remark on teachers, which he made during a speech at the launch of Peter Burke’s election campaign in Mullingar last Saturday night.
In what was the first full day of campaigning ahead this month’s General Election, O’Leary took to the mic at a packed Clarke’s Bar, encouraging those in attendance to back Fine Gael’s Peter Burke and to give their number two vote to Fianna Fáil’s Robert Troy on 29 November.
