One laugh after another: MEM Players prepare for annual drama production

Based in the Milltown (Rathconrath) area, MEM Players are in their final days of rehearsals for their eagerly-awaited production “Nobody’s talking to Me”, which takes place in Milltown Community Centre from Thursday, 28 November to Saturday, 30 November.

With cast members from the locality and surrounding areas “Nobody’s talking to Me” takes place in rural Ireland in the late 1960s and early 1970s. It’s the day of Mattie and Maggie Conway’s 50th wedding anniversary. However, very few people know that the “happy couple” haven’t spoken a word to each other for 10 years. When the local Parish Priest arrives to surprise them and to renew their wedding vows all hell breaks loose! It’s just one laugh after another!

Mattie’s eccentric sister Minnie, who has lived in the house all her life, is feeling the pressure and with the Conway’s only daughter Josephine courting Andy Walsh – best described as ‘a sandwich short of a picnic’ – the plot thickens by the minute! The fact that Bartley O’Dowd’s wake is taking place next door doesn’t help matters either! Add to the mix a complicated crossword, an over-used handkerchief, the appearance of an old flame and a surprise party where none of the guests talk to one another you’re in for a bellyful of laughs!

“Nobody’s talking to Me” comes to Milltown Community Centre from Thursday, 28 November to Saturday, 30 November at 8pm. Tickets are available from any cast member of MEM Players and from the Ticket Office by calling 087 942 8291 or 086 390 7275.
