A run of five scores in the last quarter ensured a deserved victory for St Oliver Plunkett’s, Mullingar on their home turf of Robinstown last Saturday evening, when they edged Clonkill to the county’s premier minor hurling league title.
The physically imposing Mullingar men led 0-10 to 0-7 at the break and after a brief Clonkill revival, they closed out the game with dead-ball expert Pádraig Casey leading the scoring with 0-9 and Eoin Meehan finishing with 0-3 also impressing.
