Staff and visitors of Mullingar Library celebrated St Brigid’s Day on Wednesday, January 29 last, as children from the age of seven used recycled paper and magazines to make their own St Brigid’s crosses.
Guided by library assistant Caroline Jennings, the children lost themselves in crafting, weaving and creating colourful crosses sure to take pride of place in their homes, where it is said the Irish saint will provide protection for the rest of the year.
