Streamstown nun receives national award in Sierra Leone ceremony

A Sierra Leone-based nun who hails from Streamstown was personally handed a prestigious national honour at a ceremony held on Saturday, 1 February.

Sr Teresa McKeon, 96, was a recipient of the 2024 Presidential Distinguished Service Award for the Irish Abroad, for her charitable works and advocacy, and her acceptance of the award in Sierra Leone was broadcast on RTE’s Nationwide on Wednesday, 12 February.
