A general election will be held on Friday, 29 November, Taoiseach Simon Harris has announced.
Speaking to RTÉ’s Six One News on Wednesday he said: “It’s my intention then to seek dissolution of the Dáil by President Higgins on Friday and as I would have discussed with the other coalition leaders, it’s my hope that we will have polling day in this country on 29 November.”
Once the dissolution of the Dáil is granted by President Michael D. Higgins, Minister for Housing and Local Government Darragh O’Brien will set the polling date for Friday, 29 November.
Five seats are up for grabs in the newly-expanded Longford-Westmeath Dáil constituency.
