Barry happy with first Dublin Horse Show Experience

Westmeath entrant, Killucan resident, Barry Browne, said he was happy to have experienced his first Dublin Horse Show as a competitor.

Barry, a member of the South Westmeath Hunt was persuaded to go for the Dublin Horse Show by Sarah Maxwell, who is also a member of the hunt.

“I was out hunting one day, and Sarah advised me to maybe bring the horses to Dublin.”

Barry competed in the four-year-old Irish Draught Class for the Working Hunter, with his horse named Passion Storm.

“My competition was on the Sunday,” said Barry. “I was very happy with the round. We went clear. That was the plan to have a nice clear round. That was my first time in the RDS Arena with a horse.”

For Barry, competing in the Dublin Horse Show was a big achievement, and after a first taste of the show, he is keen for more.

He said: “Anyone competing, or who has a horse always has a goal to get to Dublin. The whole year is evolved around it.

“It is a big stage and there are competitors from all over Europe going to Dublin.

“We brought one horse this year so we might go with two horses next year. We will see how they go between now and next year. A lot will happen in the next year so they will have to stay sound and be performing well in the year.”
