Westmeath County Council has agreed to fly the flag of Poland at Áras an Chontae, Mullingar, on 3 May, 2024. A motion, seconded by Cllr Andrew Duncan and by Cllr Ken Glynn, was recommended from the Corporate Policy Group. The recommendation stated: “That the Polish Flag be raised at Áras an Chontae, Mullingar and Civic Offices, Athlone on 3 May, 2024 in support of its National Day of the Polish Constitution and to illustrate the pivotal and historical connections between Poland and Ireland.” Slavek Kazek, Chairman of the Midlands Polish Community, said: “This is extremely kind of Westmeath County Council.
“The month of May is Polish Heritage Month and 3 May is one of the most important dates in the Polish calendar, so we would be extremely grateful if the Polish flag is on the mast that day.
