The efficient actions of two Gardai from the town, helping two members of Mullingar Sailing Club, following calls for assistance, resulted in the removal safely from Lough Owel on Monday morning last, of a man who had decided to go swimming in the lake.
The man entered the lake fully clothed, we understand, and was swimming towards Church Island when assistance was sought and the Sailing Club and the Gardai were contacted.
