Emper NS victorious at All-Island Debates

The young debaters of Emper NS emerged victorious in the quarter-final round of the Concern Primary All-Island Debates on Thursday last, 25 April by defeating Divine Word NS Rathfarnham, and taking a coveted spot in the All-Island semi-finals in the process. The team comprising of Matthew Kiernan (captain), Charlie Flanagan and Edward Kiernan, opposed the motion that “Young People of Ireland are Indifferent to the Global South.” Ava Hunt chaired the debate with Ethan Boyce as timekeeper.

“We are incredibly proud of our students’ achievements,” remarked Mrs Kathryn Keenan, principal of Emper NS. “The pupils have worked tirelessly to develop their debating skills and have shown great determination, resilience and teamwork throughout the entire competition to date. It really has been a learning curve. Participating in this year’s Primary School Concern Debating Competition has not only benefitted those who were actively debating on the day, but also all other class pupils. We are truly appreciative of all the support they have received.”
